The Jakarta PostJakarta to host charity futsalTwo futsal games will be held in the capital this week to raise money for victims of the deadly earthquake in Yogyakarta and parts of Central Java.
The first charity match will be Thursday at Futsal City hall at Jl. Radin Inten II No. 46 in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
There is no entry fee for the match, which will feature celebrities facing off against national players.
"We hope to raise money for the quake victims during the match," a spokesman for the organizers, Hendra Manurung, said Wednesday.
Among the celebrities scheduled to take part in the event are Eman from the 4 Sekawan comedy group, Deden "Dower", Tio Nugroho (SCTV Sports), Darius Sinathrya (SCTV Sports), Vennard Hutabarat (ANTV Sports), Alford (Indosiar Sports), Said (Bajaj Bajuri) and Indonesian Idol Yudika.
The second charity game will take place Saturday at the Bung Karno basketball hall in Senayan, Central Jakarta. The event will begin at 3 p.m.
"The four top futsal teams in the country will take part in the one-day charity futsal championship," organizer Andi A. Zamzami said. The four teams are UNJ, STEI, AMFC and Biang Bola.
The Rp 10,000 (US$1.10) entrance fee will go to quake victims.
"The championship will also feature an exhibition match between the recent elementary school championship winner Limus Nunggal 01 elementary school and Yapenka elementary school. It shows that futsal has become a favorite game for children," the organizer said.
Several national futsal players, including Sayankarmadi, Denny "Mitre" Handoyo, Andri Irawan, Richardo, Issac, Caca, Hendra, Jaelani, Yos Abu Bakar, Andrian, Vennard and Robby, will compete in the event. -- The Jakarta Post
