Chinese Futsal league just finished the Chengdu round on August 25. The 5-day tournament was played in a single robin system among the 6 club teams in the gymnasium of Chengdu UESTC, the University of Electronic and Technology of China. The China Central Television broadcasted the first match of Chengdu UESTC vs. Guangzhou to the whole nation, with a 4-4 draw as a final result.


The league title holder, Wuhan Dilong, swept the rest of the club teams with an overwhelming victory. They practicaly applied 4-0 tactic in their games in this round. They were the first team in China Futsal League to adopt this tactic, which obviously was attributed to the lessons done by Mr. Orlando Duarte, the Portuguese national team head coach, at Wuhan in April this year. The Chengdu UESTC, then at the bottom of the league table, fought bravely to harvest 8 points by beating Dalian and Shanghai, tying the Guangzhou and Beijing. It was the third best team in this round. Unfortunately, Dalian didn't continue its luck in the last round, it lost all the games. Shanghai seemed to be "tired" due to playing both local futsal and football tournaments on amateur level, as they lost 3 games in this round. Guangzhou seemed to put up a rivalry to Wuhan by losing 0-1 to Wuhan in the last 13 seconds with a freekick.


Mrs. Xue li, the vice president of China Football Association presented the opening ceremony of the tournament and spent 2 days watching the games. During her stay, she extended the invitation to Mr. Farinha, the Brazilian ex- head coach of China national futsal team, for a one year contract to play the role of both national team coach and futsal lecturer in China. Ms. Xue li is determined to promote futsal in China and she is a firm believer in futsal that produces the better players on the grass and youth level.

The final round of China Futsal League will be played on Sept. 23- 27 in Shanghai.
