Gulf Daily NewsBut Bahrain's hopes for gold were dashed with the futsal and basketball teams losing their quarter-finals yesterday.
In futsal, Bahrain were no match for hosts and title favourites Thailand who scored an easy 14-0 win to qualify for the semi-finals.
The Bahrain team, who went in at half-time with a 5-0 deficit, suffered a major setback early in the match when their captain and playmaker Salman Al Dekheel was ruled out with an injury. Bahrain also played the match without their influential youngster Ali Habib who was serving a one-match ban.
