Without any sensations

29.08.2006

There were no surprises in the first day of the 10th World University Futsal Championship, which takes place in Poznań.

Slovakia – Slovenia

In the first match opening the championship and also the group stage, contested teams from Slovakia and Slovenia. The game was eaded. None of the teams wanted to lose a goal, signs that we were watching a good defensive play of both teams. So the real play started in the second half of the match, when the goalkeepers of both teams had the most work to do had. After 40 minutes on the clock we could see the result 1:1. The final result had to be decided by penalties, Slovenia being the better team, finally winning 4:3.

Portugal – Kyrgyzstan

In this match the fans saw many goals, effective plays and an ambitious competing team from a distant Kyrgyzstan. Unfortunately only ambition and the will to struggle wasn’t enough to defeat the higher ranked rival. Portugal confirmed during this match its high aspirations in the tournament.

Serbia and Montenegro – Kazakhstan

In this match many goals were scored. There were also many effective plays. Though more effective on the court was the team from Serbia and Montenegro, who by the break already had a high advantage, and in the second half finished off the Kazakhstan team. The result was a large win for Serbia and Montenegro 11:2

Poland – China Taipei

Many goals, wonderful support for a team, and at the end a big win for the hosts. That’s how in short the match Poland – China Taipei can be described. Poles started the play a bit mousy, and it seemed that the guests had the advantage, though the first goals were scored by “white and reds”. Specifically Daniel Lebiedziński and Michał Kuś. At the end of the first half, gathered fans saw another two goals. One for the team from Chinese Taipei and the other for the representation of Poland., which was scored again by Kuś.
In the second half we were watching a similar scenario. Players from Chinese Taipei were dominating in the ball possession and they tried to attack, this allowed the polish team to counter, extending their advantage over the rival. Finally Poland won 7:2. “We are very glad because of the winning, but we don’t “get carried away”. There are more matches in front of us. The whole team wins, our strength is the team” – said Polish coach Tomasz Aftański after the finishing whistle
Tomorrow more interesting and exciting matches.
