New England Futsal is accepting league registrations for the 2006-07 season of games at three of its youth programs -- The Greater Fall River Futsal League, Catholic Youth Futsal League and the Norfolk County Futsal League.

The leagues are open to anyone in Rhode Island or Massachusetts.

All of these leagues are USFF sanctioned programs. This year the league will add a recreation division of play that will take place on Saturdays and also adult league play.

The Norfolk League director, Bill Sampaio, is also the National Director of Coaches for the USFF and will participate in helping with the selection for U.S. National Futsal teams that will represent the United States at the 2007 Pan American Games in July.

In 2005, the Norfolk Futsal League alone registered 74 teams and in 2006 it registered 140 teams for premier level games.

The 2007 Pan American Games being held in Rio de Janeiro are widely perceived as a stepping stone for Futsal to be officially accepted as an event in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Visit the New England Futsal Web site, newenglandfutsal.com, or call Bill Sampaio at (774) 526-3209 or (401) 624-1521.

To submit scores and information, e-mail us at pjsports@projo.com. You can also send faxes to (401) 277-7444, or call Colleen Roy at (401) 277-7340 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
