UEFA.comHosts confirmed for Futsal EUROSunday, 24 September 2006The 2007 UEFA European Futsal Championship has moved a step closer with the designation of the hosts in the 2 October competition draw from 13.30CET in Nyon.
Three hostsSpain are the reigning champions, having won the continental crown for the second time in the Czech Republic in February 2005. This time around, a dozen teams will enter in the preliminary round to be played between 15 and 21 January next year, with the sides to be divided into three groups of four. Finland (Helsinki), Romania (Deva) and Malta (Paola) will act as mini-tournament hosts, with each group winner and the two best runners-up progressing to the qualifying round.
Next stageAnother seven nations will act as hosts for the qualifying round, which will see matches staged between 18 and 24 February. The countries will be split into seven groups of four, with the winners of each going forward to join hosts Portugal in the final round in Porto from 16-25 November. The seven qualifying round hosts will be Italy (Martina Franca), Spain (Principe Asturias, Madrid), Netherlands (Eindhoven), Slovenia (Maribor), Croatia (Zagreb), Hungary (Budapest) and Andorra (Andorra la Vella).
