The Fa.comDoncaster dream endsWednesday, 20 September 2006Doncaster College for the Deaf's valiant attempt to qualify from the Preliminary Round ended in vain when they failed to win a game.
After stumbling to a 7-2 defeat in their first game, Doncaster were then beaten 10-2 by a talented Toligma side, despite the English side taking a 2-1 lead.
Christopher Maylor and John Atkinson both netted within the first ten minutes, but Toligma, the eventual group winners, roared back with four of their players bagging braces in a one-sided game.
In their final game against Uni Futsal Team Bulle, Doncaster found their scoring touch and raced into a 4-2 lead thanks to goals from Alistair Dalziel, Peter Wood, Daniel Hogan and Atkinson's second goal in as many games.
But Doncaster, who qualified for the Andorra-based championship after winning The FA Futsal Cup in 2005, could not hold on, conceding three goals in the last few minutes to crush their hopes of a group victory.
