Popular Inter-Faculty Futsal, Netball Tournaments At UBD

Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of UBD's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) Faculty, the SHBIE Student Body or Badan Mahasiswa/i SHBIE organised two of the biggest ever interfaculty tournaments in the university: the Inter-Faculty Futsal Tournament and InterFaculty Netball Tournament.

After months of planning, the two events were finally held from August 29 until September 17, 2006, stated a media release.

A total of 24 teams took part in the Inter-Faculty Futsal Tournament, battling it out aggressively to reach the finals and win the SHBIE Dean's Futsal Trophy, as well as the SHBIE Golden Jubilee Futsal Trophy.

Nine teams meanwhile participated in the heated Inter-Faculty Netball Tournament for the SHBIE Dean's Netball Trophy and the SHBIE Golden Jubilee Netball Trophy.

The Dean of SHBIE, Dr Hj Junaidi Hj Abd Rahman, as well as his Deputies, Dr Hjh Rohani Hj Matzin and Dr Poh Sing i Huat, presented the winning teams with their respective trophies, medals and certificates in a closing ceremony held recently.

Winners of the Inter-Faculty Futsal Tournament were Kaki Bangku UBD (SHBIE), Final Seven (FBEPS) and My Team (IPISHOAS) in first, second and third positions respectively.

The winners for the Inter-Faculty Netball Tournament were Silvernets (SHBIE), PJ Team (SHBIE) and X'Treme (SHBIE) in first, second and third places respectively. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
