Championship Begins with SurprisesThe Hellenic Futsal Championship started on September 25th with many surprising results that are shaking things up from the beginning. Salamina held off Athina ‘90 to an 8-8 draw and started the season with a great success. The “islanders” showed great passion in their home and came from behind 1-6 to tie the game mainly thanks to the efforts of 18 year-old
Kiriakos Ramfos who tallied 6 goals. The current champions Athina ’90 were caught by surprise even though they lead for most of the game.
Kosmos VP won their first ever season-opener at Aeas Pallinis 4-6 and managed to hold on despite the pressure from the newly promoted opponents. Yannis Sikaras lead the way for the winning side with three goals.
Platon was the winner of the day with a victory in the last seconds at Ilioupoli 2-3. Panagiotis Kavvadias came up big to score a personal goal in the last 20 seconds of the game and seal a valuable win for the “philosophers”. The game was certainly intense with lots of great opportunities for both sides, recording a good attendance with at least 500 fans enjoying the derby from the stands.
In other games Doukas overcame Iniohos 3-0 with Lioutas scoring twice for the home side. Ethnikos Asteras overcame the tough resistance from Gerakas to get the win 8-6 with Smirliadis, Kardasis, and Gritzalis each scoring two goals for the winners. Finally Ermis Koridallou came from behind to get the tie against Minotavros 6-6, with the youngsters of Ermis showing great effort in their first appearance in the league.
