SEVEN groups will compete for the right to represent the province in this year's Philippine Football Federation (PFF) national Futsal finals when the Negros Occidental Football Association (Nofa) stages its Futsal provincial eliminations on November 2 to 6 at the Bacolod Arts Youth and Sports (Bays) Center.

This was announced during last Thursday's meeting of coaches and club representatives held at the Nofa clubhouse in connection with the staging of Hudyat, a series of football activities slated October 22 to November 9.

The teams that have confirmed participation in the Futsal (indoor, five-a-side) football competition are West negros College, University of St. La Salle, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Bacolod United, AFF, San Carlos City FC and Real Negrense.

The Hudyat skills contest is scheduled on October 23 and 24 at either the Capitol Lagoon or the Paglaum Sports Complex. Events included are slalom, ball juggling, dribbling, shooting, obstacle and freestyle. Categories are men's open, 15-Under and 12-Under boys, women's open and Under-17 girls.
Categories to be contested in the Futsal event are men's open, 30-37 years old and 38-up.

Meanwhile, the seven-a-side football competition will be contested in the women's open, men's 38-up, Under-17, Under-15 and Under 12 boys and will be played either at Bacolod City National High School or at the Paglaum Sports Complex.

There will also be street soccer competitions (4-a-side) to be held at the Bacolod City Plaza or at the Bays Center. This will be contested in the boys 15-Under and 12-Under or mixed.

Hudyat aims to drum up attention for the 2006 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup (formerly Tiger Cup) qualifying which Nofa, headed by Representative Carlos O. Cojuangco (Fourth District, Negros Occidental) will host on November 12 to 20 at the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park pitch in Barangay Mansilingan.

Competing in the AFF Cup are the national of Laos, Cambodia, Brunie, Timor Leste and host Philippines. (HCV)
