The two world futsal powerhouses both won all the previous four matches in the round robin format, as Brazil donned the uphand with more goals.
The Portuguese commandeered the court with overwhelmingly powerful attacks during most of the 40-minute match time and the Brazilian side displayed a well-organized defense though.
The Brazilian goal keeper Marinho Tiago sneaked the ball in at 37-40, when his Portuguese counterpart joined the attack line leaving the goal wide open.
Costa Pedro's 39-43 goal offset Brazil's lead but the Portuguese side's title hope had no chance to shine in the remaining 17 seconds.
Five teams contested in the futsal event in the first Lusofonia Games, which hosted 12 countries and regions having major Portuguese-speaking communities.
