Sun StarThursday, October 26, 2006Hudyat street soccer games kick off todayHUDYAT's four-a-side street soccer competition kicks off this morning at the Bacolod Public Plaza and the Bacolod Arts Youth and Sports (BAYS) Center.
Negros Occidental Football Association (Nofa) deputy Secretary General Warren Concepcion said the competition will be staged in two categories- the 15-Under and 12-Under, and open to both club and school entries.
The street soccer event is the second of the five activities in the HUDYAT program to drum up attention to the forthcoming 2006 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup (formerly Tiger Cup) qualifying matches scheduled on November 12 to 20 at the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
On November 2-6, the provincial Futsal championship will also be held at the BAYS Center.
It will be contested in the 30-37, 38-up and men's open categories with the men's open contest to serve as eliminations for the National Futsal Finals which NOFA, through its president Representative Charlie O. Cojuangco (4th district, Negros Occidental) is bidding to host.
Other events lined up in the Hudyat program are a seven-a-side competition and a women's open beach football event.(HCV)
