Dual state glory for Mountain Creek

By MITCHELL DALE WHEN Mountain Creek Primary School decided to cobble together under-10 and under-13 futsal teams at the start of the year, they didn’t expect immediate success.
But in an amazing rise to the top, both Mountain Creek sides ended the year as Queensland champions.

The two teams won their respective regional titles to qualify for the State Champion of Champions tournament in Brisbane last month.

The under-10s won their crown the hard way, dropping two games in the preliminary rounds before taking out the final 3-0 over Far North Queensland school St Andrews.

The under-13s completely dominated, thrashing St Gerard Majella 6-1 to finish the tournament undefeated.
