Venue of the tournament will be the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center (NOMPAC) located adjacent to the Provincial Administration Center at the capitol compound.
This was confirmed by Nofa deputy general secretary Warren Concepcion during the championship of the just-concluded 2006 National University Games (Unigames) held at teh University of St. La Salle pitch last Saturday.
Competition in the Futsal (indoor football) event will be in the men's open, 30-37 years old, and 38-Up categories. But the actual number of participating teams was still being finalized by Nofa as of late Tuesday, according to Nofa deputy general secretary Joseph Gensaya.
The competition in the men's open division will serve as provincial elimination to select the squad that will represent the province in this year's Philippine Football Federation (PFF) National Futsal Championship.
In this regard Nofa officials confirmed last week that Nofa has bid to host this year's national Futsal championship here in Bacolod City, although this has not yet been finally confirmed by the PFF in Manila.
Nofa's provincial Futsal competitions is part of HUDYAT Putbol, a series of local football events being staged between now and November 12-20 when the association hosts the 2006 qualifying matches of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup (formerly the Tiger Cup).
Five teams-Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Timor Leste and host Philipines will compete in this qualifying series at the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park pitch in Barangay Mansilingan, venue of last year's 23rd Southeast Asian Games men's football competition here in Bacolod City.
The top two teams in this qualifying event will advance to join Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and reigning champion Singapore in the main draw of this annual regional event.
