The FA.comLearn Futsal in ManchesterWednesday, 01 November 2006Nearly all football players in England have at one time played a bit of five-a-side. Whether on the astro-turf with your mates, a five-a-side competition over the summer or in a league at one of the many small-sided football centres up and down the country.
But recently, you may have heard a bit more about 'Futsal', the FIFA version of five-a-side football, which helped nurture some of the game's greatest talents such as Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho.
Though the game has been played around the world for many years, Futsal is still in its infancy in England. In 2003 The FA launched the first National Championships and now runs the annual FA Futsal Cup.
For players in and around the Manchester area, the Manchester FA are running an Introduction to Futsal course that will introduce the rules and skills of Futsal and will help player development.
The County FA is also looking to follow up on the success of the Adult Futsal League and introduce Futsal into secondary schools and establish local Futsal youth leagues in 2007.
There are two dates set for the course, which will be held at Albion High School in Salford. So if you are interested in finding out more and can make one of them, email Colin Bridgford at the Manchester FA or call him on 0161 604 7626.
Dates: Saturday 11 November 2006 or Sunday 10 December 2006
Times: 9am to 4pm
Venue: Albion High School, Salford
Course Fee: £40.00
