Li Jing Australian Vikings girls team in ChinaThe China tour of Australian Vikings girls futsal team of U15 and U16 is a success on the China-Australian futsal exchange program. Composed of 6 players and two club officials, the Vikings girls team has spent 14 days in both Beijing and Chengdu from Oct. 14 – 28
In Chengdu, they played 8 games and 3 training sessions with the local girls and boys teams. They visited 5 local schools and played games on the campus with hundreds of spectators. The jubilant local students usually mobbed the girls after games for autographs and oral communication. Local newspapers and TV have reported these events several times.
In-between the games, the girls visited several local tourist attractions including 2-day tour on the ethical village in the mountains of Aba Tibetan Autonomous region, the hometown of Giant Panda. The girls visited the Great Wall in Beijing and the Sanxingdui excavation of an ancient city, Dujiangyan ancient irrigation system and the Leshan Big Buddha statue in Chengdu area. The places are the most popular places in China for the tourists and all are listed as the World Heritage by United Nations.
The visit of girls futsal team has a positive effect on the futsal exchange program. Quite a few school masters here in Chengdu are very interested in the international sports dialogue. They expressed the intentions of sending their students teams over to participate in the tournaments in Australia in the near future. Chinese primary and middle schools are in the desperate need of the international cultural exchange, especially for those in the West China area.
