WNC, Supertech post FUTSAL wins

FORMER national Futsal titlist West Negros College Team 'C' and Supertech Football Club posted opening day victories against separate opponents Thursday as hostilities in the 2006 Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) men's open provincial Futsal championship kicked off at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City.

WNC Team 'C', bannered by standouts of the WNC squad that lifted the 2004 national Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Futsal crown in Iloilo City, drubbed WNC Team 'A', 11-5, while Supertech FC, bannered by former University of St. La Salle varsitarians, likewise posted an 11-5 victory at the expense of Asian Football Federation (AFF) personnel.

Scoring for WNC Team 'C' were playing coach Norman Fegidero, Jr., Eliseo Palomo, Jr. and Robert Russel Nene with two goals apiece while Siegfred Apurado, Joel Ballo-allo, Ruffy Llorente and Aaron Amantillo chipped in with one goal each for the win.

WNC Team 'A' got goals from Mark Ferrer and Vince Braga with two each and one from Erose Caaya.

Supertech FC's scorers were Fredrick Jan Serios with five, Simon Hullesa and Rolando Ian Treyes with two apiece while Ronnie Tornilla and Taka Yano added one each.

University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos varsity coach Carlo Torbela tallied four goals for AFF Personnel and Jose Dayot Iv added one goal in their losing effort.

The competition will end on November 6 while matches will resume Saturday at 9 a.m.

Twelve teams are seeing action in this event, which is included in the Hudyat Ptbol series of local football activities being staged by Nofa to drum up public awareness for the association's hosting of the 2006 Asian Football Federation (AFF) Cup qualifying matches.

The competition, formerly known as the Tiger Cup, is scheduled on November 12 to 20, 2006 at the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park pitch in Barangay Mansilingan.

Nofa, headed by Representative Carlos O. Cojuangco (fourth district, Negros Occidental) is also hosting next year's PFF National Futsal Championship sometime in February 2007. (HCV)
