City Quake misses out on top honours

MINTO Indoor Sports Centre was a hive of activity on the weekend as one of two Sydney centres hosting the NSW Futsal Club Championships.

More than 170 teams - and fans of the inside five-a-side game - from under-12s to open women competed for the honour of being crowned NSW club champion.

The open men's competition will be played over the coming two Sundays at Liverpool.

Teams representing Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club missed out on the top honours.

The under-12 boys' team was beaten 2-0 in the grand final while two Quake youth men's sides met each other in the semifinal, but the winner was defeated in the decider. Campbelltown's 16 years' girls and women's teams both went out in quarter-finals.

Club president Mark Davis said some Campbelltown players were invited to try out for their respective state teams to represent NSW at the 28th FFA national futsal titles in January in the ACT.
