Iran futsal team lose to Italy in friendly

BISCEGLIE, Italy: AFC Futsal Team of the Year nominees Iran lost to FIFA Futsal World Championship runners-up Italy 2-0 in a friendly here on Saturday night.

Both the goals were scored by Italian captain Nando Grana in the 19th and 25th minutes as Iran acutely felt the absence of AFC Futsal Player of the Year contender Vahid Shamsaee, who was not called up for the Italian tour.


The two sides are scheduled to play again tonight, affording Iran a chance to set the record straight.


Iran, seven-time Asian champions, are also treating these matches as preparation for the AFC Futsal Championship next year.
