Under-12 Futsal: Selangor's AF Selayang down Penang's SK Bayan Lepas

22 Nov 2006

AF SELAYANG Permai, a team picked from four Selangor schools, beat SK Bayan Lepas of Penang 2-1 to win the 4th leg of the MILO Grow With Sports Under-12 futsal carnival held over the weekend at the Safira Sports Planet, Bandar Seberang Prai, Penang.

AF Selayang pocketed RM800, medals and Milo hampers while SK Bayan Lepas took home RM600, medals and hampers.

Kedah’s Tandop City FC took third place when they beat MY Putra FC from Kuala Lumpur 3-1.

The competition drew responses from 52 primary schools but more significantly, some 30 teams were actually managed by parents.

The MILO Grow with Sports Under-12 futsal carnival is yet another corporate initiative by Nestle Malaysia to rekindle the sports culture and educate children on the basics of the game.

It is also aimed at inspiring parents and children to appreciate the good values that sport can bring into their lives.

Nestle’s sports marketing and sponsorship manager, Ng Ping Loong, was excited with the response, especially from parents.

"The good response from children and parents is a very positive sign to the development of a sports culture," said Ping Loong.

"Children just love to play and it was a joy to see the enthusiasm and energy these kids displayed during the coaching clinic-cum-competition.

"It was also interesting to note that no fewer than 30 teams were formed by parents and residents associations from all over the country.

"This is a very good sign as we see parents playing a more active role in sports."

Entry forms for the fifth leg in Kota Baru, Kelantan, on Saturday are available at www.milo.com.my.
