Silvio Velo, the figure and goal scorer of the team, was the author of the victory goal. With this new consecration, the white and blue combine confirmed the title achieved in 2002, in Río de Janeiro, where it conquered Spain by 4-2.
The national team of Paraguay, meanwhile, achieved the 3rd. position when overcoming Spain 2-1. The tournament was played in Buenos Aires, and nearly 2000 people attended the final.
The "bats" had their revenge with Brazil Argentina arrived to the final, after overcoming Paraguay in the semifinal by 3-1. Los "murciélagos" tuvieron su revancha con BrasilArgentina llegaba a la final, tras superar a su par de Paraguay en la semifinal por 3-1. Brasil, actual campeón Olímpico en Atenas 2004, había hecho lo propio ante España por 3-0. En el primer tiempo, el seleccionado verdeamarillo dominó las acciones gracias al quite de Sandro en el medio y el buen juego en ataque de Ricardo, un joven de apenas 17 años, quien con habilidad y rapidez logró poner en apuros más de una vez al conjunto anfitrión. Argentina mostró una postura más defensiva desde el comienzo, le costó recuperar la pelota, y su estrella, Silvio Velo, poco y nada podía hacer adelante.
