Report by our collaborator from Chinese Taipei,
Fatih KaleTaiwan Power Company wins the National Team Selection Tournament Taiwan Power Company beat Ming-Chuan 4:3 to win the mini tournament , which was organised by the Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) to select a new National Team Coach and new players.
This result came as a surprise, as Taiwan Power Company did not enter to any Futsal tournaments in Taiwan since almost 5 years ! Taiwan Power Company is the leading FOOTBALL team in Taiwan, but they lack experience in Futsal.
Unfortunately, the level of Futsal during the tournament was below average and any newcomer would probably have a chance.
9 teams entered the tournament and the final standing was:
1st place TAIWAN POWER COMPANY (A-Team)
2nd place MING-CHUAN UNIVERSITY (A-Team)
3rd place TAIWAN POWER (B-team)
4th place MING-CHUAN (B-Team)
5th place ARMY (A-Team)
6th place TAIPEI SPORTS ACADEMY (A-Team)
7th place ARMY (B-Team)
8th place TAIPEI SPORS ACADEMY (B-Team)
9th place TAIPEI HIGH SCHOOL
According to the CTFA, Coach of the champion team would become the National Team Coach for the up coming ASIAN C'SHIP QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT , which will be held in Taipei in March.2007 with participation of 11 national teams from Asia.
However, after they won the selection tournament, the Coach of TAIWAN POWER COMPANY Mr. CHEN RIN-GUEY declined to become the National Team Coach
As a result, 2nd place MING-CHUAN University team coach Mr.KAO YONG will continue his post , as he was already the National Team coach prior to this selection tournament.
Under Mr.KAO YONG, Chinese Taipei National Team played 6 official matches , loosing 5 times (Malaysia , Uzbekistan,China,Kyrgyzistan,Japan) and winning only once (China) .
In an important note, powerhouses of Taiwanese Futsal Taipei Select Team (made up by players from DA-LI-PU team and WEN-HUA University team) did not enter the selection tournament, in protest of CTFA's handling of FUTSAL in general. Just 7 weeks ago, Taipei Select team beat the CHINESE TAIPEI NATIONAL TEAM in an international friendly tournament in Taipei.
Unless Mr.Kao Yong's new choosen players improve dramatically before March, their chances of qualifying for the Asian C'ship in Japan looks difficult. Only hope CTFA has is that the qualification will be at home.
