The AFC.comJapan Futsal League launch in September 26 January 2007 TOKYO: The Japan Football Association (JFA) has announced that the inaugural Japan Futsal National League, known as the F-League, would be launched on September 23 with the participation of eight teams.
The F-League will see the eight teams in action in a three-round robin format. Each team will play seven matches in each of the three rounds (21 games).
The first round will be played at a centralized venue (National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo) on September 23 and 24 while the final round (21st round) will also be played at the same venue on February 16 and 17, 2008.
JFA Pesident Captain Saburo Kawabuchi said: “The history of futsal Japan stretches back to 51 years. We have more than 2 million futsal players in Japan and more than 120,000 registered players (until last year). I think the futsal population in Japan is top-class in Asia and I hope the game and the league will get more popular in the future.”
Japan are the reigning Asian futsal champions.
F-League teams: StellAmigo Iwate Hanamaki, Bardral Urayasu, Pescadola Machida, Shonan Bellmare, Nagoya Oceans, Shriker Osaka, Deucao Kobe, Vasagey Oita.
