Libya Wins Third Arab Futsal C’ship

THEY believed in themselves and eventually Libya got just reward by winning the 3rd Arab Futsal Championship. They halted the dominance of Egypt, winners of the first two editions, almost by default as Egypt also shamed themselves but showing lack of sporting spirit in the final.

With score at the end of the first half still scoreless, Egypt failed to turn up for the second. The Tunisia referee waited for them to return on the pitch but as the time stipulated by the rules elapsed and Egypt did not answer his call, he called time and Libya, who had finished third in the first edition, and fourth in the second, were declared champions. Egypt did not get a placing. Second place was awarded to Lebanon, and third to Morocco.

Six teams participated in the Championships hosted by Libya. The others were, Algeria. Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.

Morocco’s Marwan Buhari won the Best Player award, while Libya’s Abdulwahed Mohammed and Haithem Attwi (Lebanon)were top scorers.
