The AFC.comIraq start preparations for AFC Futsal Championship qualifying16 February 2007BAGHDAD: The Iraqi team will start preparations for the AFC Futsal Championship qualifiers (March 1-5 in Chinese Taipei) this Sunday with a four-day training camp in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
Iraq face Korea Republic, Indonesia and Guam in Group B and have to finish among the top two teams for a place in the Finals which will be played in Osaka, Japan, from May 13-19. Group A qualifying will see Lebanon face off with hosts Chinese Taipei, Maldives and the Philippines.
"We are confident of making the finals," Iraqi coach Saad Hussein said. "The camp in Jordan is very important as it will give the players the right environment to prepare and give me a chance to assess their readiness."
After Amman, the team flies to Bangkok for another training camp during which they will play a few friendlies before heading for the Chinese Taipei city of Taipei Xinzhuang for the qualifiers
