Hungary go into their decisive UEFA European Futsal Championship qualifying round Group F fixture tomorrow needing just a point on home territory against Russia to pip the 2005 runners-up to November's finals in Porto. But though Hungary striker Madarász János admits Russia are "a brilliant team" their coach Mihály Kozma has said the home nation will go all out for victory in Dabas.
Attacking philosophyKozma, who led Hungary to their first finals in 2005 and this week masterminded a 10-2 defeat of Greece and 3-0 win against Lithuania to leave his team one goal ahead of Russia, told uefa.com: "We always play for Hungary and we want to win. We have proved recently that we can be the equal of any team in the world. It doesn't make sense to play defensive futsal at home as the most important task is still the promotion of the sport and we have to keep long-term aims in our minds. So even though Russia are good in possession we will not make a bunker on our goalline."
'Brilliant team'János, who scored a hat-trick against Greece and claimed the late goal versus Lithuania that left Hungary ahead of Russia going into Friday's encounter, added: "I watched both of Russia's matches and I can confirm what everybody knows - that this is a brilliant team. They are well-organised enough to finish their combinations in attack and are quick enough to go back when they have to defend.”
Victory vowHowever, the striker vowed: "We have creative players and I would say 'characters' who can decide a game. I don't think that we will attack most of the time but we have the quality to finish our quick counterattacks. If we had play ten games against Russia they would win nine - but not the one we will play tomorrow."
