The strange travel of the Intercontinental Cup

Portimao 2007
Hard to explain what's happening with the Intercontinental Cup organization. As far as we can remember at the end of the past edition (Brusque, Brazil), the LNFS announced that the tournament was going to take place in Tokyo (Japan) for three years to come. After that there were rumors coming from Spain about the possible transfer of the tournament from Japan to Dubai, while in the past month the latest news talked about Portugal as a possible host country. Today the event was confirmed to take place in Portugal, with a private company to run it as an invitational tournament. That means which, according to our informations, there won't be african or oceanian representation. Though we have not official informations, the involved teams should be the following ones:

SL Benfica (Portugal)
Sporting CP (Portugal)
Boomerang Interviu (Spain)
Malwee/Jaraguà (Brazil)
Carlos Barbosa (Brazil)
Nagoya Ocean (Japan)
World United (USA)
Dinamo Mosca (Russia) - to be confirmed

All matches will take place in Portimão, in the Arena placed in the "Expo Arade", since April 4th to 8th.

What is sure, anyway, is that the tournament has not yet a clear identity and keep on beeing definitely far from turning into an "official" event.
