People's Daily OnlineMyanmar withdraws from AFC Futsal Cup qualifier Myanmar's Futsal team has withdrawn from the qualifier matches for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Cup early next month, a local weekly Myanmar-language newspaper reported Friday.
The Myanmar Futsal team along with the China's Macao and the Cambodian teams will not compete in the qualifier matches for the AFC Futsal Cup slated for March 1-5 in Taipei, the Myanmar Times said.
"There had been some weak points in the Myanmar Futsal team in preparation for the tournament, so the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has decided not to participate in the qualifier matches for the AFC Futsal Cup," the MFF general secretary U Banni Tin Aung was quoted by the paper as saying.
The Myanmar Futsal team will compete in the upcoming the Association of Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Futsal competition scheduled on Mar 24-31, the MFF said.
The Myanmar Futsal team took part in the ASEAN Futsal competition for the first time in May 2006 and secured third in the tournament.
