Futsalplanet Awards 2005 (late is better than never!)

Futsalplanet Awards 2005 - Best Player of the Year
Dear Futsal friends,

a long time has gone since the celebration of the successful Futsalplanet Awards 2004, we're aware of it.

That seemed to all of us the right and most complete formula to celebrate the best of futsal, and our clear aim was to keep it up for the years to come. But, as you have probably noticed during the past season, we could not provide you with the same result, as organizing problems and changes in our staff didn't allow us to publish the Futsalplanet Awards 2005 results. That was determined by the huge amount of work to do for a quite limited staff, just using our (little, unfortunately!) free time, to be shared with the others Futsalplanet activities (results from all around the world, news and so on...).

But we are not accustomed to give up at the first obstacle (we believe we have proved it in almost ten years of Futsalplanet.com!), so that we are back with the Futsalplanet Awards celebration!

We're are therefore proud to announce the following:

1) Having taken in consideration the whole number of indications and preferences received one year and half ago by our expert collaborators, when working in order to arrange the candidates lists for the 2005 Prizes, our staff has decided to assign the Best Player of the Year 2005 Awards to the former Playas de Castellon flank Javi Rodriguez.

The spanish crack experienced one more impressive futsal year in 2005, conquering his second European Championship title with Spain in Ostrava, ending the tournament as best scorer of his team (3 goals together with Andreu). We have also to remind that in the 2004/2005 season spent with Playas de Castellon, Javi Rodriguez scored the impressive amount of 34 goals in the Division de Honor regular season and just two months after the end of the year he could celebrate his 100th cap with the Spanish National team (21st February 2006 vs Serbia and Montenegro).

Last but not least, this prize goes to Javi Rodriguez due to his unbelievable career in futsal, absolutely still in progress with Barcelona! So... enhorabuena Javi!

2) The Futsalplanet.com Awards are therefore back to the origin, celebrating the unique "Best Player of the Year" category as happened for the 2000, 2001 and 2002 editions. That will be also the case of the imminent Futsalplanet Awards 2006 edition, with the candidates list to be released in the next days. The "new" point will be given by the voting people, as only National team Coaches from all around the world will be allowed to take part.

3) Everything is still on discussion for the Futsalplanet Awards 2007 edition, and your opinion is basic to us: which kind of formula would you prefer? Would you like us to repeat the 2004 edition? Would you be available to support us in this matter? How many categories would you like to be introduced?
