Tees Valley Futsal Cup 2007The Draw for the 2nd Tees Valley Futsal Cup, sponsored by Thistle Hotel, was made last night. Holders Tranmere Victoria were absent, but the level of competition hasn’t suffered with well established teams such as Team United Birmingham and Rotherham Athletic Futsal Club due to make the trip to the North East. The Tees Valley is hosting what is set to be the biggest futsal event in the region, and is set to bring over 100 visitors to the area.
The tournament will take place on the weekend of 31st March and 1st April in the Olympia Building, the area’s premier Futsal Venue at the University of Teesside. Organisers and hosts, Middlesbrough Futsal Club and the University of Teesside Futsal Club were drawn in Groups A and D respectively and as such could meet in the Final on 1st April. Other contenders to the title are the experienced Team United Birmingham as well as newly formed clubs Manchester Futsal Club and Carlisle Futsal Club. Ipswich Wolves will not be making the journey to go home empty handed either and their 4th place finish in the National Finals last season puts them amongst the favourites for the tournament.

The opening game is at 9am on Saturday 31st March between local rivals Middlesbrough Futsal Club and Hartlepool Corinthians Futsal Club. The event is open to all spectators and there is no entry fee to the tournament. The FINAL is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 on 1st April.
