Country to Participate in World Cup in Portugal

The Angolan five-a-side football national team will participate on 04-09 July, in the third edition of the Futsal world championship that will take place in Monte Gordo, in Algarve (Portugal), at the invitation of the Portuguese Football Federation.

According to the Angolan Futsal Federation (FAFUSA)'s chairman, Luís Mourão, the invitation was received on 27 February 2007.


In last year's edition, also held in Monte Gordo, Angola finished third in the competition, after Portugal (champions) and Croatia (vice-champions).

In the 2005 edition, held in the same country in the region of Evora, the Angolan national ream ended in the second place, a competition that was won by Portugal.

The event is jointly organised by the Portuguese Football Federation, the sports events promotion company "Castro Brothers" and the Town Council of Vila Real de Santo António.
