Thanhnien NewsVietnam beats Brunei to revive SEA Futsal semifinal hope Vietnam thrashed Brunei 6-0 Tuesday to revive hopes of going through to the semifinals of the fifth Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
Le Tuan Tu, Le Van Khuong, Nguyen Bao Quan, Huynh Ba Tuan, and Huynh Dong Kha scored for the winners.
After being beaten 3-13 by host Thailand in the opener, Vietnam now needs a win against Myanmar Wednesday to secure a last four spot.
The 5th edition, being played at Bangkok’s Hua Mak sports complex, has attracted eight teams with Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia making up the other group.
The tournament kicked off Monday and will wrap up next weekend.

VietNamNet BridgeVietnam earn first victory at SEA futsal contest VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnamese futsal team earned the first victory at their Southeast Asian contest in Thailand after beating Brunei 6-0.
The Vietnamese team took a 5-0 lead after the first half with goals by Tuan Tu, Van Khuong, Bao Quan, Ba Tuan and Dong Kha.
Two minutes into the second half Tuan Tu scored the sixth goal for Vietnam to seal a 6-0 victory.
This was the first victory of Vietnam at the contest. In their first match, Vietnam lost 13-3 to hosts Thailand.
In another match, Thailand beat Myanmar 10-2, and secured top spot in the table.
Vietnam, therefore, will compete for Myanmar for second place in the table and a berth in the semi-finals.

Vietnam NewsViet Nam win helps save face28-03-2007HA NOI — Viet Nam beat Brunei 6-0 in Group B of the ASEAN Futsal Championship (AFF Futsal Cup) at the Huamak Indoor Stadium in Bangkok yesterday.
The win over Brunei though could not erase Viet Nam’s humiliating loss against Thailand in the group opener on Monday.
Defending champions Thailand got off to a roaring start when they whipped Viet Nam 13-3 in the indoor football tournament.
Thailand’s Panuwat Janta opened the score book three minutes into the game, but Viet Nam’s Nguyen Bao Quan equalised a minute later.
Viet Nam were unable to put the brakes on the Thais, who scored four more goals before Quan scored the home side’s second
Apart from Panuwat and Anucha Munjaren who both ended the match with hat tricks, Sermpun Khumthinkaew and Kiatiyot Chalermkhet added two each, while Nattapol Suttiroj, Prasert Innui and Panomkorn Saisorn made goals.
In another Monday Group B match, Myanmar crushed Brunei 10-3, with goals from Maung Maung Htay, Soe Min Oo and Aung Moe.
In Group A, Indonesian Jaelani Ladjanibi only needed one goal to edge out the Philippines 1-0.
Australia, playing in their maiden AFF Futsal Championship after crossing over to the Asian Football Confederation, scraped by a determined Malaysian side.
The Aussies started their Group A match on a strong note, scoring after only seven minutes through Miles Downie. Scott Dingwall doubled it in the 13th minute before Malaysian Thayalan pulled one back six minutes later.
With time running out, the Malaysians managed to haul themselves back into contention in the 34th minute thanks to an equaliser from Mohd Fadhil Yusoff.
Adrian Vizzari became a hero in the 38th minute, finding the back of the net and giving the Aussies their first win. — VNS
