The Star On lineOur boys face stern Thai test in futsal semi-finalPETALING JAYA: Malaysia qualified for the semi-finals of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) futsal tournament with a 2-2 draw against Indonesia in their final Group A fixture at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium in Bangkok yesterday.
Malaysia advanced on a better goal difference than Indonesia. They will play against Group B winners and defending champions Thailand in the semi-finals tomorrow. Group A winners Australia will take on Vietnam in the other semi-final.
Ahmad Rizal Abdul Rahim was the toast for Malaysia when he scored both the goals in the 20th and 38th minutes. Indonesia replied through Socrates in the 26th minute and Jaelani Ludjenadi (36th).
Malaysia lost their opening game to Australia (2-3) but bounced back to beat the Philippines (12-3).
Group A: Australia 5 Philippines 1, Indonesia 2 Malaysia 2.
Group B: Myanmar 4 Vietnam 6, Brunei 1 Thailand 13.
