Vietnam through to Southeast Asian futsal semis

VietNamNet Bridge - A 6-4 victory over Myanmar has sent Vietnam to the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian futsal contest, reported the Sports Daily.

The Vietnamese side, as runners-up of Group B, will play Australia, leaders of Group A in the semi-finals.

In another semi, hosts Thailand play Malaysia.

After losing 13-3 to Thailand in the opening match, Vietnam beat Brunei 6-0 and needed a victory over Myanmar to go through.

The Vietnamese side scored six goals by Tuan Tu, Bao Quan, Van Khuong, Dong Kha and Anh Khoa.

Meanwhile, Kyaw Dunn, Aye Min Win, Maung Maung Htay and Aung Moe were scorers of Myanmar.

Viet Nam to play Oz in AFF Cup

HA NOI — Viet Nam will play Australia in the semi-final of the ASEAN Futsal Championship (AFF Futsal Cup) at the Huamak Indoor Stadium in Bangkok today.

Ahead of their semi-final clash, Viet Nam beat Myanmar 6-4 win to finish second in group B, behind Thailand, who crushed Brunei 13-1.

In group A, Australia beat the Philippines a 5-1 on Wednesday.

Viet Nam’s bout with Myanmar was far from conclusive, with the lead toing and froing for much of the time. Le Tuan Tu opened the score four minutes into the game but Myanmar’s Kyaw Dunn equalised a minute later.

In the eight minute, Nguyen Bao Quan made it 2-1 to Viet Nam, but Aye Min Win again tied the match one minute later.

Myanmar were clearly lifted by their second equaliser, while Viet Nam appeared disheartened. In the 16th minute Lai Cai Luai netted the ball and the first half ended 3-2 to Myanmar.

After the break, Viet Nam took control again, moving well on court. Four minutes from the break, Le Van Khuong grabbed a goal to level the match before Huynh Dong Kha made it 4-3 to Viet Nam.

Aung Moe pulled one back for Myanmar in the 28th minute. However, in the last 10 minutes, a determined Vietnamese side scored twice, the first coming from Anh Khoa and the second Quan.

This is the first time Viet Nam have reached the semi-final of the AFF Futsal Championship. — VNS
