Nhan DanVietnam fail to upset Australia in Southeast Asian semis The Vietnamese futsal team failed to upset Australia in the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian contest, going down 4-1.
The Vietnamese team, who reached the last four of the tournament for the first time, made great efforts in the first half and held Australia to a 0-0 draw.
After the break, Australia opened the scoring and the Vietnamese team equalised immediately. However, the Vietnamese side conceded three more goals.
They will compete with Malaysia, who lost 13-0 to defending champions Thailand, for third place.

Huynh Dong Kha scored its only goal in the 30th minute. His teammate Cao Anh Tuan scored two but at the wrong end and the Australians helped themselves to two more through Simon Keith and Scott Dingwall.
Vietnam will plays the third/fourth playoff match Saturday against the loser of the match between Thailand and Malaysia.
The 5th Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, being played at Bangkok’s Hua Mak sports complex, attracted eight teams – Myanmar, Brunei, Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and host Thailand.
