Brass FC emerge champions

BRASS FC beat AF Selayang FC 3-2 in the second leg of MILO Hidup Bola Under 16 Futsal Carnival held at the Sports Planet Malacca over the weekend.

The third spot went to Tuyyut FC who overcame a strong challenge from Muar Kick FC also by 3-2 margin.

The top four teams took home RM1,000, RM800, RM600 and RM500 respectively. The winning teams also received MILO Hidup Bola commemorative futsal balls and a complete set of jerseys and balls from Figos, the official ball of the event.

Teams as far as Klang Valley and Johor were also in action to grab some of the attractive prizes at stake and qualify for the grand finals. The top two teams of the second leg namely Brass FC of Melaka and AF Selayang A FC from Selangor qualified for the grand finals to be held at the Sports Planet Ampang in Selangor on July 22.

This second leg attracted 54 teams surpassing the target of 48 teams.
Following the huge success of the inaugural MILO Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival in 2006, the event dedicated to Under 16 teams has now become an annual event.

MILO also took the opportunity to organise a 45-minute coaching clinic followed by a friendly game between two Under-12 invitational schools teams as a curtain raiser before the grand finals.

The crowd and parents were entertained to some great futsal display by these school children. Taman Paya Rumput Indah Football Academy beat SK Paya Rumput 3-2 in the friendly. Both teams took home MILO medals and MILO hampers.

The Under-12 friendly will be a common feature in all the other 12 legs to be held all over the country.

Nestle Sports Marketing Manager Ng Ping Loong said that he was happy with the MILO Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival.

"Our objective is to provide opportunities to the youth below 16 years to discover their futsal skills, enjoy the atmosphere of the event, promote good sports values and make new friends through sports. This overwhelming response augurs well for the other 12 legs."
