Warriors Invade Solomon Islands
The Dural Warriors Futsal Club, in conjunction with the local Baptist Church, recently sent a delegation of their top coaches to the Solomon Islands to assist the development of the sport in that country.
The group set themselves a grueling 10 day schedule in order to reach as many schools, coaches and participants as possible. The aim was not just to reach the players, but to develop local coaches who could carry on the work after they departed.
The trip proved to be an outstanding success with over 600 children attending coaching sessions. Basic coaching and refereeing courses were also well attended.
Enthusiasm across the islands was such that approaches have already been made to both FIFA and government departmens for funding assistance to bring teams to the Australian Championships in January.
NSW Futsal Association would like to congratulate the Dural Warriors Futsal Club for their vision, commitment and achievements in the Solomon Islands.
Below is an extract from an article in a Solomon Islands paper.

He said during the ten days they hope to give to the Solomon kids the skills they need to play the sport.
After seeing just one session yesterday, Codrington wa s already amazed with the skills and talents shown by the kids.
He said the talent of the kids is absolutely amazing.
What we want to tell these boys is to let them look about every part of life he said.
Chairman of the organizing committee Eddie Omokirio said he was very happy for the groups acceptance to come over and share their skills with the kids in town.
Twelve Honiara schools will participate in the ten days session culminating each day with a soccer match.
