Iran annihilate Malaysia in AFC Futsal

Iran's futsal team has trounced Malaysia 15-1 at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship in a Group D match in Japan.

Iran opened accounts in the 4th minute through Mohammad Hashemzadeh and scored six more goals in the first half and eight in the second half, Malaysian News Agency Bernama reported.

Malaysia obtained their only goal in the 28th minute.

With the win, Iran who have won the cup seven times in a row, moved closer to the quarter-finals after beating Lebanon in their first match.

Group D comprises Malaysia, Iran, China and Lebanon. In the other Group D match, Lebanon beat China 4-2.

The championship at the Gymnasium Park in Amagasaki, Kobe, involved top 16 Asian teams.

Iran Thrash Malaysia 15-1 In AFC Futsal Meet

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's hope of creating a surprise at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship was shattered when they lost 15-1 to Iran in a Group D match in Japan tonight.

After losing 0-2 to China in their opening match yesterday, it was difficult for coach P. Balakrishnan's men to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Malaysia obtained their only goal in the 28th minute.
