Brazilians eye revenge

Tuesday, May 15th 2007

Ousted at the semi-final stage of the 2005 English Futsal tournament by Camptown in a memorable encounter that ended 13-12 in Camptown's favour, the Brazilian Futsal team returns to the competition seeking revenge when they oppose a Police side at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall tonight.

According to spokesman for the organizers, Mark Bradford, the Brazilians will be looking to arrest the Kevin Archer-led Police side in one of four exciting match-ups as the competition continues this evening beginning at 7.30pm.

In other matches, Alpha United with Charles `Valderrama' Rose, Gordon Henry, Anthony Harding and goalkeeper Sean Johnson in their line-up should get past Winners Connection of Linden notwithstanding the latter's name.

Bradford said little was known of Winners Connection but he opined that their pedigree would be tested and laid bare for spectators tonight.

A more high profile Linden team, Amelia's Ward will take on a Fruta Conquerors' side boasting players of the calibre of former national player Elroy Parks, Lester `Puppy' Peters, Vernon Mills and Gerald Gittens while Beacon with strike trio Nigel Denny, Sherwin Grimes and O'Reilly Small to the fore will throw down the gauntlet to the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
