Bendigo Vikings Futsal Club - FREE ‘Come and Try’ clinic

Futsal is the FIFA internationally recognised sport of Five-a-Side indoor soccer, which great players including Ronaldino and Ronaldo began their careers playing.

The FREE ‘Come and Try’ clinic will be held on June 4, 2007 from 4:30pm at the popular YMCA Flora Hill Stadium on Keck Street and is open to EVERYONE.

The Victoria Country Administrator, Rosalie Hillebrand, described the FREE clinic as a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to come and learn more about the game of Futsal and to get involved in a relatively new local club.

Five-a-Side indoor soccer is an all-season sport which is not impacted on by daylight, weather or ground conditions. There are now over 120 clubs across Australasia, with regular Club players having the opportunity for selection on regional and state squads, plus international touring teams.

“In the short history of the Bendigo club, nine local school-aged players have been on representative squads at both regional and international touring level. This is an amazing effort”, Victorian Country Administrator Rosalie Hillebrand said.

“As the Bendigo Club is still quite new and evolving, joining now offers both juniors and adult teams the opportunity to grow with the Club.

Currently, we offer three age-based coaching programmes to juniors, providing a great fun activity for all skill levels. For those involved in other sports, Futsal is complimentary, providing a bonus of sharpening ball skills and speed.”

Indoor soccer appeals to adult teams because the time commitment is much shorter than for many other team sports, we operate on weekday evenings and are not affected by weather being indoor. Teams often have players of varying skill, populated by friends, family and work colleagues. This makes playing both a social and fitness opportunity.”
