Stabroek NewsFutsal StoppageKumar says new contract with commissioners; tourney might resume at weekend Friday, June 8th 2007 The five-a-side football tournament that was stopped because of several infractions of the rules governing the usage of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall might be restarted at the weekend.
According to Director of Sport Neil Kumar, the new contract for the usage of the facility had been prepared by attorney-at-law K. Juman Yassin and has now been circulated to the members of the National Sports Commission. Kumar said if all went well the organizers might be called in by this weekend to sign the document which will signal a restarting of the tournament. The Futsal competition to select the national futsal team for this year's Caribbean Football Union futsal c/ships to be held here in Guyana is being hosted by English Promotions and the Kashif and Shanghai Organization. Aubrey 'Shanghai' Major said he was looking forward to the recommencement of the tournament; at the time of the stoppage there were still four preliminary games to be played.
