Storm Midfielders Called Up to U.S. National Team

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago Storm midfielders Matthew Stewart, John Ball and Andy Rosenband have been invited to attend the U.S. National Futsal Camp to be held in Spain June 10th-June 17th. Rosenband and Stewart attended the U.S. Camp held in Brazil in May, while Ball was a member of the U.S. National Futsal team in Taipei, for the 2004 Futsal World Cup. The Spain camp is in preparation for the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in July.
A native of Hammond Indiana, Rosenband was thrilled with the call up. "I'm excited. I've never been to Spain before and I'm one step closer to representing the United States in the Pan Am Games." Rosenband continued, "Any time you get to represent your country it's an honor."

Invited to every Futsal camp this year, Matthew Stewart is looking at the bigger picture. "The camps have been a great experience so far." The El Paso Texas native stated confidently, "With the players in camp and a few key additions that have not been able to attend due to other obligations, we have a legitimate shot at winning it all in Brazil."

Futsal is an indoor soccer game played with four field player per team plus goalkeepers on a field roughly the size of a basketball court. Unlike MISL soccer, Futsal has no walls, the ball is smaller and heavier then traditional soccer balls and the goals are much smaller. The game was invented in Brazil, played the world over and is sanctioned by FIFA as the only form of international indoor soccer.

The Chicago Storm is a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) since 2004. Chicago's professional indoor soccer team plays its home games at the all-new Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
