RM220,000 up for grabs in futsal tourney

PETALING JAYA: A whopping RM220,000 in prize money is for grabs in the inaugural Felda-FAM national futsal championships, which will be played at the Malawati Indoor Stadium in Shah Alam from Aug 10-12.

The championships for both men and women are open to all state teams, Police, Armed Forces and invitational sides from Maybank, Proton, RTM, TV3, Government Services (Maksak) and Utusan Malaysia.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched the championships in a grand ceremony at the Wisma Felda in Jalan Gurney yesterday.

FAM general secretary Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad said FAM had a five-year deal with Felda to promote futsal in the country.

The men’s and women’s champions will receive RM50,000 and the runners-up will get RM30,000. The third and fourth placed teams will receive RM20,000 and RM10,000 respectively.

Group A: Johor, Maybank, Terengganu, Selangor.
Group B: Penang, Kelantan, N. Sembilan.
Group C: Maksak, Sabah, Perak, Utusan Malaysia.
Group D: Kedah, K. Lumpur, TV3, A. Forces.
Group E: Felda B, Perlis, Pahang, Malacca.
Group F: Felda A, Proton, Police, RTM.


WOMEN
Group A: Felda B, Pahang, Kedah, Utusan Malaysia.
Group B: Felda A, Johor, RTM, A. Forces, Sabah.
Group C: Maksak, Penang, Malacca, Proton, K. Lumpur.
Group D: Selangor, Terengganu, TV3, Maybank.
Group E: Police, Perlis, Kelantan, Perak.
