The New Straits Times Guar Perahu sink Bumi Alma in finalGUAR Perahu A whitewashed Bumi Alma A 5-0 to clinch the Penang leg of the Milo Under-16 Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival at the Safira Sports Planet on Sunday.
Guar Perahu A and Bumi Alma A, both Penang-based teams, had to overcome stiff opposition as among the 65 teams that competed were those from Kedah, Perak and Perlis.
In the third-place playoff, Buttertech FC defeated Rha Putra "A".
The top four teams took home prize money of RM1,000, RM800, RM600 and RM500. The teams also received Milo Hidup Bola commemorative futsal balls and a complete set of jerseys and balls from Figos, the official ball of the event.
An Under-12 friendly between Taman Koskam Football Academy and SK Bagan Tuan Kecil was held before the final with Taman Koskam winning 2-0.
Ng Ping Loong, the Milo Sports Marketing Manager, said the participation of teams from Kedah, Perak and Perlis was proof of the popularity of the event.
"Response has been overwhelming and I urge teams to register early for the remaining four legs," said Ping Loong.
The next leg will be held at the Sports Planet Ipoh on Saturday. Entry fee per team is RM50.
