Horst SchumacherJune 20thEncouraging news coming from German futsal, where several new leagues are starting this year in Hamburg, Berlin and other main cities.
After the well known soccer Bundesliga Club
Eintracht Frankfurt, which joined futsal two years ago with great results, one more Bundesliga powerhouse is starting its futsal section: we're talking about
Hertha BSC Berlin, which recently joined the "new" sport and is now taking part in the
Verbandsliga.
Hertha have no more chances to win this League, as SD Croatia Berlin can count on 18 points in the table, but after the summer break will start the winter league, with the Bundesliga side indicated as one of the clubs supposed to win the title.
Verbandsliga - Current table1. SD Croatia Berlin 18 points
2. Hertha BSC Berlin 9 points
3. United Futsal Berlin 9 points
4. BFC Türkiyemspor Berlin 6 points
5. Berliner Ballkünstler 6 points
6. Bunte Liga Berlin 6 points
7. TSV Rudow 1888 Futsal 6 points
8. Allianza Berlin 0 points
In the meanwhile
Eintracht Frankfurt Futsal Team took part in the Hasselt tournament, obtaining a 3-1 victory against Sahin Hasselt (2nd Division), a 1-3 defeat against the dutch side Leekster Eagles and losing again vs the belgian club of
Futsal Hasselt (score 0-3). Their performance in Belgium proved anyway the fact that German Futsal is following the right way.
