Nike's five-year contract a boost

Nike have announced they are joining hands with the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and will be supporting the Thai football team for the next five years. They are off to a high-profile start with the Asian Cup commencing on Saturday.

President of the FAT, Mr Worawi Makudi said he was very pleased with the support given by Nike.

''It is a great opportunity for the FAT. We hope to have a bright future with the Nike with our target of upgrading the Thai national team to truly international level.''

Marketing director of Nike (Thailand), Ms Pattarin Akkarapat said the uniform used by the Thai team in the Asian Cup is only a temporary outfit. ''We are designing a new uniform which will be ready by the end of the year,'' she said.

''There will also be uniforms for the women's team and the futsal (five-a-side) teams.''
