Rovers learn Futsal opponents

eircom League of Ireland Futsal champions Shamrock Rovers have learned their opponents in this summer’s Uefa Futsal Cup, in which they will become the first ever Irish club to take part in European Futsal action.

Rovers lifted the inaugural Under-21 Futsal competition by defeating UCD in the final in April.

Drawn in Group D of the Uefa Cup’s preliminary round, Rovers will face Armenian side FC Politekhnik Yerevan, Scotland’s Fair City Santos and Austrian outfit Stella Rossa Vienna.

The games will take place between August 11th and 19th next, with Stella Rossa Vienna hosting the round-robin tournament.

The section winners will advance to the group stage proper of the Uefa Futsal Cup against Benfica of Portugal, Ukrainian champions Energia Lviv and Bulgaria’s MFC Varna.
