New Straits TimesAkademi Darul Naim off to Grand FinalsAKADEMI Darul Naim beat Guchil FC 3-0 in an-all Kelantan final to clinch the 12th leg of the Under-16 Milo Hidup Bola Futsal carnival at the Kota Baru Futsal Arena last week.
The Kelantan sides had to overcome stiff resistance, including from teams from Terengganu and Pahang, to book their spots in the final which qualified them for the Grand Finals on July 22 at the Sports Planet in Ampang, Selangor.
Maher FC beat Blues A Real 7 3-2 on penalties to finish third.
The top four teams won RM1,000, RM800, RM600 and RM500 respectively. The winning teams also received Milo Hidup Bola commemorative futsal balls and a complete set of jerseys and balls from Figos, the official ball of the event.
A 45-minute coaching clinic, conducted by former Kelantan players Wan Kamaruzzaman and Nik Muhd Radzi, was followed by an Under-12 friendly between Akademi KBFA and Sri Gading Muda FC with the former winning 2-0.
Both teams went back as winners though with medals and hampers.
Milo Sports Marketing Manager Ng Ping Loong said the remaining two legs before the Grand Finals have also attracted great response.
"The fact that teams from Terengganu and Pahang competed in Kota Baru is an indication of the popularity of this event which augurs well for the development of the game."
The 13th leg will be held at the MasterCraft Indoor Sports Centre in Paka, Dungun,Terengganu today.
