Sains Boys take home overall trophy

SAINS Boys from Kuala Lumpur emerged overall champions of the Milo Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival 2007 when they beat Sarjana Teleflow 1-0 at the Ampang Sports Planet yesterday.

As the winners of the main Under-16 category they took home RM5,000, a trophy and products from Milo and Figos.

In the Under-12 category, Misai FC edged Gen Pro A 1-0 in the final to pocket RM1,000.

Alam Megah proved to be too strong for AJ Foxes A winning 4-0 in the women’s ‘Open" category.

Commissioner of Sports Tan Sri Elyas Omar, who gave away the prizes, said there should be more futsal tournaments in the country.

"I really appreciate the hard work done by Milo in organising the futsal carnival, because futsal is a start to developing good football players.

"The players get to train their short and low passes in a futsal game, and these are essentials in football ,"said Elyas, adding that he also hopes to see more futsal courts built in both cities and rural areas.

The Milo Futsal Carnival, which is in its second year, started in April with competitions held all over the country where the top eight teams qualified for yesterday’s grand final.
