The shops are in major shopping centres and are open normal shop hours at Christmas , seven days a week . This is nothing to do with food and is simply retailing of 'dry' goods. It is good pay and you can work from 4 hours to 60 hours a week.

BECOME A CENTRE MANAGER OR REFEREE.With the new futsal summer season to start in 2 months, we will be again looking for centre managers and referees. Both are paid positions and can be an enjoyable way to be involved in the sport. You can do anything from 2 hours a week to 40 hours a week.
We have positions available across both north and south island new zealand, South Australia, Tasmania,Victoria ,North NSW and all parts of Queensland.

INAUGURAL VIKINGS FUTSAL SELECT TEAMSIn another first for Vikings Futsal, we have selected representative teams in each of 8 age groups with one player selected from every Vikings region and this will be further done on an annual basis. and each player receives a Viking of the Year trophy.
Each region across Australia and New Zealand can nominate one player for the team, to form a select squad of 16 players , and these players will presented with a trophy and publicised on the website of their selection.

THE VIKINGS AUSTRALASIAN PACIFIC SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPSThis years Vikings Australasian School Championships willbe held in Dandenong , Melbourne October 2nd to 5th .
Teams from Queensland, North NSW, Hunter Valler, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand willbe attending.
In a first for the sport ,the tournament will be played in a 15 court stadium solely , which will make easier the logistics of officials, transport and general organisation.

DAL PONTE FUTSAL ACADEMYThe first year of the Dal Ponte Futsal Academys have gone well. We have academies in a number of locations in Melbourne, Brisbane,Cairns and Townsville and will be expanding into other areas over the next year. Centres such as Highfields, Warwick, Geelong and Ballarat will be underway in the next month. We have also had other academies such as MELBOURNE REDS join us.
We have set the acadamies up for the sole purpose of giving players quality coaching rather than simply just turning up each week for a game. The coaching is carried out be experienced futsal coaches in all areas.

Vikings Pacific School Titles 2007We have run all the local playoffs of the first VIKINGS PACIFIC SCHOOL TITLES and now we move into the regional playoffs. These will be held Brisbane, Melbourne and Christchurch and the winners and runnersup of these will play at the Gold Coast end of October for the chance to be declared Australasian champion. In total just under 2000 teams from across Australia and New Zealand will have taken part in this tournament by end of year.
Next year the tournament is planned to take part in all states of Australia , to give more schools thechance to compete.
Schools can enter teams in ten age groups from 10 years to 19 years, male and female.

Junior Vikings Training In BrazilFour young Vikings Players are presently in Brazil training with Futsal National League Teams. Scott Fenn,Zayne Freiberg (both at left)and Glen Standen who have been in our Vikings youth team for the last 2 years are spending six months with MALWEE in Central Brazil. MALWEE IS coached by famous World Cup coach Ferretti and their star player is the great FALCAO .
Elliot Causer from Bundaberg is training with MINAS TENIS in Belo Horizonte and is also there for six months.
Wish all the boys well and I know you will definitely come back a better player.
VIKINGS RUNNING TOUR TO THE FUTSAL WORLD CUPThe Futsal World Cup will be held in Brazil August 2008,and in conjunction with EBF, the official education arm of CBF,we will be running a tour to it.
It will be 21 days and will include 4 nights at the Grand Camary,Brazil Footballs (CBF)training centre, five nights at the Athletico Mineiro training Academy in Belo Horizonte , a week in Brasilia to watch the Brasilia group of the tournament and then 3 nights in Rio to see the final. Those who wish to stay longer can, and are welcome to use our beachhouse in Vitoria for some R and R.
As usual Mauricio will be our host for the tour.
For those who wish to do, the tour will include an EBF International Futsal Licence course, which will be run at all sectors of the tour. For those stillyoung enough to play we are organising in different cities games against local opposition.

He is particularly focussed on setting up Dal Ponte Academys across the state.
LONG TIME BETWEEN NEWSLETTERS Well its been a long time between Newsletters again but finally gotaround to doing. In April/May I spent 6 weeks in the United Kingdom and China and got to meet and see a lot of what is going on.
At grass roots, futsal is a long way from as developed as the sport is in Australia and New Zealand, but there a number of people in the UK in their own areas trying hard to get the sport going. Particularly in juniors there is a lot of work to be done, and hopefully Vikings can be some help in helping everybody.
In China I again caught up with Li Jing, CEO of China Vikings and his school programmes are going well.
Vikings Set Up in Western Australia and South AustraliaVikings Futsal have opened an office in Salisbury South Australia and will be running competitions from there. We are also organising the inaugural Vikings Futsal School Titles in South Australia where the champion teams will have the chance to go forard to play off to be Australisian Champions against winners from all other states and North and South Islands of New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND NEWSThe Southern Stars picked up their first Vikings Regional Titles Championship when Otago won the 13 year old girls title at this years Easter Titles. They were coached by James Vaughan who we are pleased to announce has also been appointed Otago Development Officer.
In continuing our development across the country we have appointed development officers to new areas. John Moon will be based in Auckland to develop the Auckland/Hamilton area, Dave Genner will be based at Palmerston North and John Vaughan willbe based in Nelosn/Picton area.

BRAZILIAN COACH APPOINTED QUEENSLAND COACH FOR NATIONAL CLUB TITLES Queensland Futsal has appointed Brazilian coach EWERTON head coach of the state men's and women's teams for this years nationals. EWERTON is known to a number of people as he was a member of the Vikings team that won the nationals 2001,coached by Maurico Marques( at left).
At the end of that year,he returned to Brazil where he took up coaching. He is presently coaching AMERICA DE NATAL, the state champions of RIO GRANDE DO NORTE and will be taking three months off to come out and coach.
While here Ewerton will also be visitng the different Vikings regions to run coacihng courses and clinics . He arrives mid Octoberand will be working with both the mens and womens state teams.
INTERNATIONAL TOURS COMING UPOur next representative tour is off to China early September. Led by Garry Kay, the tour has been lucky enough to be visiting at the same time the Womens Football World Cup is on.
Chengdu is host to the group containing USA and SWEDEN , but also AUSTRALIA plays its last roundrobin game there as well. LI Jing has organised tickets to the games so those on the tour are getting an added extra.
The UK tour is next and leaves 10th October
ROUND THREE OF PACIFIC LEAGUE FOR CAIRNSRound Three of the Vikings Pacific league will be played in Cairns on the weekend of 18th/19th August. The first two rounds have been played in Hobart and Maryborough, Qld , with the following rounds to come in Christchurch( October 22nd) and Melbourne ( 6/7th December)
Competing in this years are Cairns,Townsville, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart and Christchurch and each city has a fullround of games over a weeknd. This is the second year of the league and it's planned to bring in more teams next year, eventually leading to a home and away league.

LI JING APPOINTED NATIONAL ASSISTANT COACHCongratulations to Li Jing on being appointed Assistant Coach to the Chinese National Futsal Team. Li Jing who is coaching Chengdu University in the national University League, will assist Farinha , who has been reappointed national coach after his success in getting China to fourth place in the last World Cup qualifiers. Good luck in this time qualifying and we hope to see you in Brazil.
